The Irises at The Sea Ranch is a project that through architecture, purposeful activity, in-house services, and facilitation of third party care providers will meet the needs of seniors who desire to retain their independence at The Sea Ranch as they advance in age.
The site is situated in the forest among restored meadows. There are five clusters of buildings; each cluster creates a common living space so that the residents can socialize, yet retain their privacy. Clusters are one story with covered walkways at the perimeter each interior courtyard to facilitate the vital exercise needed during inclement weather. There is a guest quarters for friends and relatives and a physical therapy space. A major challenge for designers was to make the sloping site wheelchair accessible. The project is currently on hold. |
